Can you picture it? You’re working in your classroom all day and have an IEP scheduled for after school? It’s not like I’m going to change out of my work outfit into an IEP friendly outfit. I like wearing clothes to school that are both functional (I can get down on the ground and play) and IEP meeting appropriate. In this post I’m going to share some of the basics I use to build IEP friendly outfits.
I created all of these outfits with just 10 pieces. You can have 6 different looks that you can rock any day you have an IEP meeting. You’ll be comfortable in your classroom all day and look super professional at your IEP meetings.
Outfit #1: Comfy and Cozy
This first outfit is a great way to move from the classroom to an IEP with ease. These pants are some of the most comfortable pants I have. They look fancy but feel like pajamas! You can easily sit on the ground in these and lift students as needed. In the classroom, I pair these pants with a pocket t-shirt. When it’s time for my meeting, I’ll toss on a cardigan and head to the meeting looking super professional.
Outfit #2: Flower Power
This outfit is super comfortable. I paired the same comfortable pants with a loose fitting white shirt and a cute floral kimono. You can wear the shirt and pants in the classroom and add the kimono when it’s time for your meeting or you can wear the kimono all day. It’s up to you!
Outfit #3: Pop of Color
These are a different version of the same pants. I’m not kidding when I say I absolutely love them! The pants come in a ton of colors (and I may have at least 4 of them). I like adding a pop of color to some of my outfits. These ones don’t have the ankle detail, so if you don’t like the tie ankle, I definitely recommend these ones. Keep these pants paired with a loose fitting shirt and cardigan to keep it simple yet professional.
Outfit #4: Sleek and Professional
Another take on these cozy pants is to pair them with a nicer top. I like this tops ruffle detail. Tucking the shirt into the pants helps keep this looking professional for your meeting.
Outfit #5: Simple and Classic
Want another way to style this black top? Wear a pair of white jeggings and a cute belt. You’ll be classroom ready with the stretch in the pants and the belt helps polish the look. Leave this shirt tucked or untucked to finish this look off.
Outfit #6: Tunic Love
I love a tunic. Almost like a dress but better. This cute tunic comes in tons of prints and styles. Pair this with a pair of jeggings or leggings and a cardigan helps this tunic turn into an IEP friendly outfit!
These are some simple outfits you can take right from the classroom to any IEP meeting. I chose not to share shoes because we all have opinions about shoes. Most of these would pair great with a pair of ballet flats. I also chose not to include jeans as some schools don’t allow teachers to wear jeans. If your school allows jeans, you can easily switch out some of these pant options with a dark wash denim!
